I'm very happy today, because from now on, the days will get longer...and hopefully warmer. Pagan traditions of worshipping the sun, where developed around the winter solstice and even Christmas has both a pagan and a Christian past. We don't worship the sun, but we do worship the "sun of righteousness, who rises with healing in his wings." (Malachi 4:2). This is what Charles Wesley was referring to in his Christmas song, "Hark the Herald Angels Sing." This day gives me great hope that the darkness will be swallowed up by the light. I'm celebrating the great Light of the world who comes to bring healing and life!
